Hello, welcome to Rule I.S.D. Science Department. My name is Kent DeVille. I teach all the secondary sciences; 7th grade, 8th grade, I.P.C, biology, chemistry, and physics. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I
graduated from Texas Tech University. I began my teaching carrier as a Coach/teacher. In 2001 I stepped down from coaching so I could focus on teaching. This is my second year here at Rule I.S.D.. I take great pride in teaching
science and have enjoyed nine fun filled years of teaching, and look forward to many more.
As you know the T.A.A.S. test is long gone, and has been replaced by the T.A.K.s test. The state has upped its science requirements, so I have my work cut out for me. My goal is to create an air of excitement towards science. I start this in the lower grades. I believe science should be seen as well as read. Hands on is a must for getting a full understanding of science. If a basic understanding is obtained at a younger age, the building of science
skills tend to come more easily. I like to insight learning by proposing questions that pertain to everyday life. Once the connection is made, the science discipline has more merit. This leads to an enthusiasm that allows
for a greater understanding. Through this enthusiasm, I hope to better prepare my students for meeting the challenge of the T.A.K.s test. I look forward to many more years teaching here at Rule I.S.D. and cant wait to see what the future holds.
